Frank S. Hatch was born in Woods Cross, Utah, 30 Oct. 1882. He was three
years old when his parents moved to Scipio, in which community he received
early education and religious experience and valuable training in farming
and the care of livestock.s
In the winter of 1896 to 1897 he attended school in South Bountiful, but completed the 8th grade in Scipio in 1901.
Frank entered the preparatory school of the University of Utah in the Autumn of 1901. Acquired his B.S. degree in electrical engineering in 1907, the first descendant of William S.Muir to receive a bachelors degree. Employed by Utah Light and Power Company, Salt Lake City, in evenings, while at the U. of U.
Was the first manager of the Bountiful Light and Power Co., 1907 to 1908. Was with the Utah Light and Railway Company 1910 to 1916. In 1919 he returned to Scipio where he established the power and light facilities for that community. He then returned to the ranching enterprise in Scipio.
However, since 1928 he has represented the Telluride Power Company in Scipio. He has been active in the civic and political life of Scipio and Millard County. Has served 2 years on the Scipio Town board and has been a delegate to the Republican State convention. He is a High Priest in Millard Stake.
Married Charlotte (Lottie) Cottam, 16 June 1909, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was born 9 July 1882, Salt Lake City, daughter of John Cottam, b. 10 Dec. 1823, West Bradford, Yorkshire, England, and Anna Gusta, b. in Tegneby, Sweden.
Charlotte Cottam was educated in the schools of Salt Lake City, where she
received also high school education and training at the University of Utah.
Taught school for eight years at Midvale and Murray. Was for twenty-five years
a member of the Salt Lake Tabernacle Choir. Served on the Sunday School and
Relief Society boards of Salt Lake Stake. Has Taught in the Sabbath School,
the Primary Association and the M.I.A. For fifteen years she conducted the
ward choir in Scipio. She has served on
Millard
Stake Relief Society board for 15 years, and on the Sunday School Board for
four years. Has also been M.I.A. Speech director.
Since 1928 Frank Hatch has served as maintenance engineer for the Telluride Company in Scipio, and since 1922 has recorded U.S. Weather Bureau Information for the community of Scipio.
Nine children have been born to this wedlockseven daughters and two sons. All of the daughters have completed University training, largely at the University of Utah. The son, William, a true cowboy at hart, lover of fine animals and especially horses, is now the virtual manager of the Frank S. Hatch Ranch, in Scipio.

SCIPIO, Millard County - Frank S. Hatch, 85, died Aus. 31 in a Fillmore hospital of natural causes. Born Oct. 30, 1882, Bountiful, Davis County, to William Ira and Margaret Muir Hatch. Married Chalotte Cottam, June 15, 1909, Salt Lake LDS Temple. U of U graduate in electical engineering 1907.
